I’m a cellist, composer, arranger and music tutor based in Sligo. I also play mandolin and banjo.
Music has always been an integral part of my life, and I love what I do.
It’s a privilege and joy to play with the many talented musicians in Sligo in the Northwest of Ireland.
I moved here in 1991 from Switzerland, where I trained as a teacher, and studied cello at the Conservatoire in Bern.
Ever since then Sligo has been my home and I have had numerous collaborations with musicians and singers
from Sligo and all over.
My main Band is NoCrows, but I also regularly play with
Declan O’Rourke, Cathy Jordan, Steve Wickham, Kieran Quinn,
The Sligo String quartet, Sligo Baroque Orchestra, and various Trad outfits.
I have recorded and performed with Dervish, Lisa Lambe, Those Nervous Animals,
Above and Below the Tide, Rolling Empire, Brave Giant, Tusk, Collette Sheerin,
Deirdre Correia, Felip Carbonell, Ray Coen and numerous other singers/songwriters as a session musician.
After my first visit to Ireland in the 1980s I took up the banjo to learn tunes,
and playing at Trad sessions has been one of my favourite pastimes ever since.
I started teaching at Sligo Academy of Music in 2000, and have also worked with Music Generation Sligo since 2011.
